ACCOUNT DIRECTOR

MattsonJack is currently seeking a self-motivated Account Director for the greater Chicago, IL area. MattsonJack’s client list includes some of the most recognized pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the world, such as Abbott, Amgen, AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Genentech, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson Companies, Eli Lilly, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis, and Wyeth. This position will be responsible for:

  • Identifying business opportunities within focus accounts based on an in-depth understanding of client needs
  • Managing multiple engagements, balancing client expectations, workload, and timelines.
  • Preparing and presenting results to Sr. Pharmaceutical and Biotech management personnel.
  • Delivering on time, on-budget provision of client deliverables for assigned engagements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum BA/BS degree, M.B.A. or Ph.D. preferred
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience required
  • Excellent analytic, organization and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Consistent demonstration of maturity and diplomacy in the work environment
  • Ability to make effective presentations to all levels of management
  • Knowledge of and experience working with pharmaceutical and/or medical industry data
  • Capable of developing cross-functional relationships within an organization
  • Participate in and facilitate client and project team meetings to explain analysis results
  • Fully proficient in software applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Self-motivation / Strong work ethic

CANCER EPIDEMIOLOGIST

MattsonJack is seeking a Cancer Epidemiologist to join the group at our San Francisco Bay Area office. This position will be responsible for conducting independent secondary epidemiological research and analysis with a global scope (key regions include the U.S., Western Europe, and Japan).  A major area of MattsonJack specialization relates to the development of oncology patient and treatment projections.

Duties include:

  • Develop quantitative epidemiological models from published and/or registry data, resulting in an estimation of potential patient populations within specific tumor types.
  • Extract relevant information from large databases (e.g. SEER, cancer registry data, IARC, etc). 
  • Produce clear and concise written reports documenting the methodology used to obtain the patient population estimates.
  • Conduct literature and abstract searches from regional conferences regarding changes in epidemiology.
  • Be an active, willing and cooperative partner with other members of project teams.
  • Assist clients and MattsonJack colleagues in presenting the results of the epidemiology/treatment analyses and understanding the market implications of oncology patient population estimates.
  • Assist the Epi Group leader in monitoring the quality control/assurance process for all cancer epidemiology materials, both syndicated and custom.
  • Provide ongoing input to improve the oncology epidemiology consulting service.
  • Proactively pursue additional oncology epidemiology related project work and other business development activities as assigned.
  • Travel domestically and internationally – 10% initially, possibly more in future.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Advanced degree in epidemiology (M.P.H. or Ph.D.) and/or oncology epidemiology experience would be a plus
  • Science background.
  • Experience in quantitative and scientific analysis.
  • Experience working with data. 
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS or STATA
  • Strong willingness to learn.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current oncology treatment practices would be a plus.

RESEARCH ANALYST

Mattson Jack is currently seeking a Research Analyst for our offices located in Foster City, CA or Media, PA. As a Research Analyst, this position will support the Emerging Technology Chapter Leader in the ongoing research and management of the Emerging Technology module of CancerMPact. This position will also contribute to other CMP modules, such as Treatment Evolution. Secondary responsibilities include support and staffing for oncology custom consulting projects. The position will grow over time to include a level of client interaction. This position reports directly to a Senior Director and interacts with clients and other MJ consultants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops familiarity with the content of all the CMP modules for the three regions – U.S., Europe, and Japan, including a basic understanding of the models utilized in Patient Metrics
    • Continually builds on basic knowledge base from journal articles, conference attendance, and internal communication with colleagues
  • Updates product profiles for leading drugs in development, including:
    • Actively monitors biotech/pharmaceutical industry for information regarding pipelines and clinical development, such as investor presentation & press releases
    • Summarizes clinical abstracts from oncology conferences
    • Tracks clinical development programs using public sources
    • Estimates revenue potential, likelihood of launch, and launch timing
    • Writes analyses of drugs in development: impact on current practice
    • Reviews profiles for quality prior to publication
  • Assists with responses to client inquiries
  • Presents summaries from conferences and from CMP to clients
  • Participates in additional projects as needed, such as other CMP modules, and/or custom client projects
Requirements:
  • Degree in biological sciences or related field
  • PhD or M.B.A. or other advanced degree
  • One or more years experience within Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry would be a plus
  • Prior work experience in oncology would be a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Advanced writing skills
  • Excellent communication and project management skills are required
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally – 10% initially, possibly more in future
