Proprietary Modeling for Oncology
MattsonJack has developed a number of proprietary
models that it employs in its multiclient reports and in single
client assignments that include both qualitative and quantitative
methodologies. For more information on how MattsonJack can
develop models to meet your needs, phone (650) 212-7010 or
e-mail info@mattsonjack.com.
Cancer Economics
Model examines the indirect and direct costs of cancer
by incorporating the various components of cancer spending
(e.g., magnitude of the disease, research and development
expenditures, payer funding, and direct provider and drug
costs) into a unified model.
Emerging Technology Valuation Mode
assigns a commercial viability score to a new or pipeline
product based on an assessment of key success factors, commercial
development potential and timeline, competitive environment,
and forecasted indications, treatment populations, pricing,
and revenue.
Future Outlook Scenarios Model
postulates three or four alternative scenarios for the future
of a market, product, or business. In a workshop format, a
team of experts identifies high-impact / high-uncertainty—factors
and signposts of change that help guide business decisions.
Indication Prioritization Ranking
Model is a quantitative assessment process to rank
a cancer indication taking into account current management
trends, unmet needs, patient population sizes, and products
in development. These criteria are weighted to generate an
overall rank score to assist in indication prioritization
based on unmet needs.
Market Evolution Model considers
and weights factors such as patient populations, patient influence,
reimbursement influencers, provider trends, current management
practices, emerging technologies, and existing and emerging
competition to develop forecasts of the market potential and
product opportunities in specific therapeutic arenas relevant
to pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Patient Decision Model guides
one through the spectrum of cancer care that a patient traverses
from symptoms to diagnosis to treatment and follow up to recovery
or death.
Relapse and Remission Mode
estimates the reintroduction of relapsing patients into the
treatment population and removes those patients who are estimated
to achieve a long-term remission (greater than five years).
This model utilizes treatment data to estimate the different
untreated, responding, and nonresponding patient groups. The
responding patient subgroup is then modeled to account for
the duration of remission and the reentrance of patients into
the treatment setting.
Severity and Opportunity Ranking
Model utilizes stage-specific relative survival to
calculate a severity of disease ranking. This ranking reflects
current unmet needs and limitations of current therapeutic
options. Combining the Severity Scores with MattsonJack's
5-year Prevalence by Stage populations allows for the calculation
of an Opportunity Score, which appropriately weights the unmet
need compared to the size of the patient population.
Stakeholder Influence Models
evaluate the level of influence that key stakeholders and
other factors in the delivery of care have on the physician
specialist’s treatment patterns, prescribing patterns,
and drug choices.
Time to Progression Model
predicts the time it takes for a cancer patient to progress
from one stage of disease to the next through MattsonJack's
unique calculations that have been affirmed by leading cancer
epidemiologists.
Treatable Universe Model accounts
for patients receiving first- and second-line therapy, nonresponders,
relapsing patients, and patients in long-term remission.
Treatment Algorithms by Stage
illustrate first-line and second-line treatments by cancer
stage and estimate first-line response and average duration
of first response.
