Introducing MattsonJack's Comorbidity Database
The new Comorbidity Database
is designed to help clients make strategic decisions based on
an in-depth understanding of the importance of mutually exclusive
and overlapping conditions, expanding the potential of pharmaceutical
product development.
The new Comorbidity Database consists
of two modules: Comorbidity Database - CNS 2.0, which focuses on
mental health disorders, and Comorbidity Database - Med 2.0, which features a broad
range of medical diagnosis and risk factors, excluding mental
health disorders. The modules can be used to help determine the value
of order of subsequent indications for currently marketed
products. Download a PDF brochure on the Comorbidity Database.
The Comorbidity Database modules works
in concert with MattsonJack's Epi Database®, which is
considered the gold standard in terms of breadth of countries
and depth of indications covered in epidemiology data. The
Comorbidity Database product offerings exemplify MattsonJack's
commitment to epidemiology and continuous product enhancement.

COMORBIDITY DATABASE - CNS 2.0
The Comorbidity Database - Central Nervous System (CNS)
2.0 allows users to determine the patient population numbers
for all possible combinations of the following disorders:
|
- Depression
- Panic Disorder
- Social Anxiety
|
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
|
Benefits of Comorbidity
Database - CNS 2.0
- Define exact
patient comorbidity groups for all possible combinations
to
help quantify the size of new opportunities
- Patient populations
projected through 2025 to help simplify and improve forecasting
- Determine the
number of prevalent cases in the U.S. of each
combination
of diagnoses to ensure forecasting accuracy
Source data are drawn from the National
Comorbidity Replication Survey is a national survey of approximately
10,000 people 18 years and older in the United States. The
most recent data available is from the survey conducted in
2001-2002. The survey used a fully structured interview to
examine mental health disorders. Included were anxiety disorders,
mood disorders, impulse control disorders, and substance use
disorders.

COMORBIDITY DATABASE - Med 2.0
The Comorbidity Database - Med 2.0 features a broad
range of medical diagnosis and risk factors, excluding mental
health disorders, and it allows users to determine the patient
population numbers for all possible combinations of the following
diseases or risk factors:
|
- Dyslipidemia
- Asthma
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Post Myocardial Infarction (PMI)
- Stroke
- Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)
- High-Density Lipoproteins (HDL)
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
|
- C-Reactive Protein (CRP)
- Framingham Score
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Metabolic Syndrome
- Angina
- Smoking
- Low-Density Lipoproteins (LDL)
- Triglycerides
- Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG)
- Waist Circumference
- Total Cholesterol
|
Benefits of Comorbidity
Database - Med 2.0
- Group diseases and/or risk factors
based on related diseases for
a more in depth understanding
of market opportunities
- Customize the definitions of risk factors
(LDL, HDL, total cholesterol, triglycerides, hypertension,
FPG, BMI, and other criteria) to quantify
the size of the
market opportunities
- Determine the number of prevalent
cases in the U.S. of each
combination of diagnoses to ensure
forecasting accuracy
Source data are drawn from the National
Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a large
population-based study that is designed to assess the health
and nutritional status of adults and children in the United
States. The survey is unique in that it includes detailed
data from household interviews, medical examination, and laboratory
analysis. Since 1999, the survey has included over 31,000
respondents. The most recent survey available was conducted
in 2003-2004, and included approximately 10,000 respondents. |
The separate but complementary Comorbidity Database modules are offered
by annual subscriptions and will be available through a Web-based
application, mirroring the delivery method used for Epi Database®.
Optional introductory training on using the Comorbidity Database is available.
